WITH MICHAEL SCHOLES AND DEBBIE FREUND
"The goal of the aromatic school in New York is to discover how you feel physically, emotionally and spirtualy and design blends that can be applied daily in order to restore balance. When these blends are applied consistently in specific treatments one can begin to heal oneself in order to heal others. Essential oils are the tools that will facilitate this healing. Now all we must do is to learn everything there is to know about this fascinating subject"
--Michael Scholes

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
How is this course different from other aromatherapy courses? This course differs in the fact that it offers the healing aspect as well as the aromatic link. It is not enough to use essential oils daily. One needs to incorporate the essential oils into a consciousness of inner growth and understanding. When on can identify how one feels physically, emotionally and spiritually and then apply specific essential oils and blends in customized treatments, the results can be phenomenal.
Will I still learn what is offered in the certification or diploma course? You will learn even more as this is an ongoing program that offers more time and study than even the 300 hour diploma course. The material presented will be cutting edge and incorporate the latest research and essential oil knowledge. It will be a course based on science and intuition where the science will be presented in a dynamic and easy to understand format.
Will I receive a certificate? You will receive a certificate after each seven classes (Thursday and Sunday) and a Diploma in Aromatic Healing after 21 months of attendance.
Will you be offering this school in other locations? Due to the commitment involved, this program will only be offered in New York. It will be available in a distance learning program and can also be be taken within the curriculum on the Inner Search healing School in Mclean, Virginia (please call for details).
EXPANDED CURRICULM
SECTION ONE: Personal understanding, expression, review and process In this section you will review who and how you feel in order to remove obstacles that get in the way of you ability to stay present. The goal is to identify your own process and to be able to use information gathered in the school to create blends that will maintain balance, focus and self acceptance. In this respect, learning is not separate from your personal growth and what you will ultimately learn in the Aromatic Healing School is how to fully integrate aromatic wisdom into your life. This section will be a group process experiences and will primarily take place on Thursday evenings.
SECTION TWO: Intuitive Learning Systems - Self expression through spontaneous game playing It has been said that you can only learn through a combination of laughter and hypnosis. That is when your happy, inspired and when the material presented is clear, organized and has the ability to bypass the rational mind. In this section you will learn how to fully relax and experience joy though theater games that are designed to connect you with the group, the location and the material. Laughing has been called internal jogging.
SECTION THREE: Aromatherapy 101 In this section we will review the subject of aromatherapy and all that is required to understand the safe and effective use of essential oils. It includes the bridging of science and intuition through the understanding of aromatic chemistry and botany. This section will review traditional and modern day extraction, safety concerns and toxicity, essential oil research, medicinal uses, review of individual constituents and scientific explorations of the complex world of how to determine the quality of an essential oil through several testing methods (hands on).
SECTION FOUR: Aromatic Philosophy. This section includes a personal exploration and understanding of your self in relationship to the world in which you live. This is an Eastern and Western approach to diagnosis. Information gathered will assist you in understanding what essential oils and treatments are suitable for your individual personality as well as your clients. This section includes a review of how you relate to the world through a specific element, numerology, characterology and how your personal defenses may, in time, show imbalances at the physical, etheric, astral and cosmic level. You will learn how to match your overall profile with specific plant signatures that have fields of form that will aid you in restoring inner harmony. The goal of this section is to be able to become proficient in understanding your clients through personalized intuitive aromatic readings and healings.
SECTION FIVE: A review of the systems, energy medicine and case study review This section reviews the systems of the body from a physical (what you can see) and emotional/spiritual prospective including subtle energy (what you must sense). Essential oils will be reviewed for each system plus the use of essential oils for the chakras, meridians and the subtle energy or chi (including the Chi massage oils). In addition, case studies will be reviewed and blends formulated.
SECTION SIX: Fragrant Sacred Healing Spaces The internal health of your home is dependent on the internal health of your body and your body, in turn, is a reflection of how you feel inside. Your home is a sanctuary and reflects everything about who you are. As we honor our personal space, our inner process and our body we nurture each part of us. In ancient Egypt it was not uncommon for the body to have several blends made and applied in one sitting. This section includes a review of how to restore order in your home, office, automobile, emotions, relationships, career, finances, spirituality, body and health. Each part of your life will be evaluated and essential oils and blends will be reviewed and customized according to your own individual needs.
SECTION SEVEN: Essential Oils and blending supplies. This section includes a review of essential oils, carrier oils and hydrosols. All the essential oils will be reviewed in alphabetical order as well as botanical family order where taxonomists (botanists) have placed essential oils depending on similarities in growing location, shape and area of creativity. Over 30 categories of information will be reviewed for each essential oil. Blending supplies are as important as essential oils. Essential oils are best applied when diluted in carrier oils and a multitude of carriers will be reviewed. Hydrosols or floral waters are highly therapeutic and very effective at treating external and internal conditions where the most miniscule amount of active components is desirable. In healing, it is never about quantity, homeopathic doses can be very powerful.
SECTION EIGHT: The Michael Scholes School Practitioner Kit This practitioner kit was designed for the practitioner and healer who is dedicated to restoring balance, harmony and health within the human condition. Each kit contains 10 essential oils (60 drops per vial) that are perfectly suited to working with each of the 32 themes or conditions. There are over 200 essential oils in the kit. In many instances, duplicate oils are used from different countries or different species in order to fully explore the wide variety of subtle differences found in essential oils world wide. The kit contains four temperament kits, five characterological kits and twenty three other themes. At least one kit per class will be reviewed in detail including hands on application.
SECTION NINE: Blending philosophy: Matching form with function. This section includes a review of blending since your ability to blend dictates your understanding of the subject in its entirety. Like cooking, knowing the raw ingredients does not necessarily guarantee a good meal. It is the goal of this section to inform you how to make a blend that is safe and smells good and is effective for the condition being blended taking into consideration your individual health, sensitivity and the occurrence of any pre-existing conditions. Blending is a science and an art and has its roots in traditional perfumery where color, shape, note, mood, emotions and desired outcome all have a part to play in fragrance creation. Creating a blend on paper is a necessary step to becoming a dynamic blender where fragrances are first created in the mind.
SECTION TEN: Hands on healing/application. In this section we will review the most effective application techniques in applying the essential oils. This section will be hands on section and will cover applications from top to toe. This includes specific applications to the head, scalp, face, ears, body, hands and feet. In addition, you will learn specific applications including anointing treatments and perfusions to specific organs, systems, meridians, pressure points and chakras in restorative applications that improve Chi.
SECTION ELEVEN: Hands on spirituality and practice The Aromatic Healing School is designed to align the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual parts of ourselves. The spiritual part is often overlooked in the healing process and is often looked at separately. There are many sacred oils in aromatherapy and many are relatively unknown. Essential oils are well documented within the bible, the Vedas and in the works of master herbalists such as Culpepper. This section involves the integration of sacred oils into ceremony where the focus is the connection to the divine. The use of essential oils in rituals, meditation, visualization and manifestation will be reviewed, where we awaken our larger roles outside the third dimension. This section is hands on and involves the making of mandals, mesas, prayer beads, incense, alters and includes story telling and circle gatherings in the Native American traditions.
SECTION TWELVE: Hands on blending Each student will make a minimum of two blends per class. This section will involve the actual making of blends from essential oils, absolutes, hydrosols and carriers that are reviewed in class. Blends will include blends for specific conditions, personal care products, environmental fragrancing and botanical perfumes.
